The Benefits of Doing Your Insurance Continuing Education Online

Every licensed insurance agent must complete a certain amount of insurance continuing education every 1-2 years depending on their state’s rules and regulations. Many states give the agents an option of doing their education online, in a classroom, or using interactive courses. Insurance agents will typically choose either online courses or interactive courses if they are allowed. Both are online, but interactive courses are usually equivalent to classroom courses while online courses are not. Online education has become more and more popular over the years for a variety of reasons. One of the reasons is because they are convenient. Students are able to start and stop the course at anytime. So after you purchase the course and complete a chapter, you are able to take a break and complete the rest of the chapters at a later date. Many agents like this feature. Another good thing about online education is its simplicity. Agents can receive all of their continuing education credits within a few hours. They can complete the courses anywhere with internet access and do not have to sit in a classroom. If an agent chooses to sit in a classroom, they have to listen to a lecture for however many credits the course is worth. For instance, if they are taking an eight hour annuity course they have to sit in a classroom and listen to the instructor talk about annuities for eight hours. The only benefit to sitting in a classroom is there is no final exam at the end of the course. Students just have to sign an affidavit letting the state know they were present during the presentation.

As you can see there are many advantages to taking courses online. You also have many different options when it comes to courses to take. There are so many insurance continuing education providers out there. You can find one that you like by searching through Google. Most of them have the same type of classes, but they are all different in content and credit hours. You can even do courses from more than one company. So if you like an ethics course from one and an annuities course from another that is ok. The state allows you to choose to take courses from more than one provider. The only rule is that you cannot repeat the same course from the same provider within a two year period. But, you may complete an ethics course from one company and a different ethics course from another company. Every company has different provider numbers and course numbers.
